“A hero has left a thousand words as a weapon towards victory.”

José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda,

José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, was a writer and the Philippines’ national hero. He was most admired because of his books entitled Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. And today December 30 Filipinos are commemorating what he had done to free his country from its chain. As such I’m sharing some of his words of wisdom.

“Maligayang Pasko from the Philippines!”

I would always find Filipino Christmas worth going home for. Why? Simply because I could taste the Filipino-style spaghetti, and pancit palabok.

“Philippines made a major impact in beauty pageants through beauty and brains.”

In every beauty pageant we test the ‘beauty’ of a contestant’s brain through  the Question and Answer. We would applaud the candidate with the best answer and at some point, we’d be quiet to those who gave a sloppy answer. We also cheer for those who answered with a lot of ‘Uhm‘, ‘Ahh’, other kind of pause and translator drama.  So I’m sharing some of the answers uttered by Philippines’ candidates in five major beauty pageant this 2013.

“We lost someone in this physical world, but his wisdom remains within us.”

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, the former president of South Africa, father of Modern Africa, and anti-apartheid icon, has uttered so many words that inspired most of us.  I’m sharing five of his famous quotes. They are those who inspired me to live what God has destined me to do.

“Take an #Unselfie. Make A Difference.Volunteer. “

I know #Selfie was the word for 2013.  And I admit I was fond of doing a number of them a couple of years ago. But things have changed and I have known better. So I wouldn’t make one here. Instead I’m making a response to United Nations’ global movement. I’m posting my  own #unselfie photo.

“Rest in Peace Paul Walker. You will always remembered.”

I was at Estancia, Iloilo, Philippines (a town greatly affected by the super-typhoon Haiyan) helping my friend’s family in giving relief goods at Brgy. Bulaqueña when I learned the shocking news on my Twitter timeline. I was so upset that I even cried and promised that I’ll make a blog post for this man, whom I fell in love 6 years ago, and who was in full support for the relief efforts in the Philippines. So in lieu with the shocking and upsetting news about Paul Walker’s passing, I’m sharing why I fell in love with him through the movies he’s in. (more…)
